About two billion years ago when the world had just come into existence, the so called atoms of energy carried the manifestations of consciousness that we find today in human beings.
The
darkness of evolutionary night began to fade centuries ago when the
first ape-like creature deserted his tree-branch kingdom and shambled
out into the light of the plain. He was guided by something he could
not understand: something un-apelike. Somehow, somewhere in
his seething body chemistry, something had changed. In his brain lay
the seed of humanity; in his strangely bright eyes, the dark shadow
of a hidden dream.
Time
passed slowly. The new creatures developed and multiplied. The
wonderful changes in their bodies and minds continued; their brains,
nerves and glandular systems grew in complexity and specialization.
New behaviour patterns evolved and after some time, emotions and
feelings unknown and denied to all previous forms of life found their
means of expression.
The
Dawn of Man was reached at that auspicious hour. Everyone of us
carries within him the hidden memory of that first sunrise, and even
beyond it into the darkness of antiquity. We are, by means of this
primordial memory, which is part of our human heritage, intimately
connected to all forms of life.
After
millions of animal lives, created beings attained human form.
That is why all the scriptures speak of the rarity of human life; you
have achieved human frame – you must make it meaningful by your
sádhaná (spiritual practice), service and sacrifice.
But
despite its advent onto this earth many thousands of years ago,
humanity is not yet capable of building a well-integrated and
universal human society. This is in no way indicative of the glory of
human intellect and erudition.
In
the past, there have been crises in different branches of
civilization, crises in the realm of education, and so on. But
nowadays, the entire human society is facing the crisis of
civilization as a whole, and particularly a crisis in the field of
existence.
Today
all over the world, a grim fight has started between the evil
forces and the benevolent forces. Only those who possess the moral
courage to fight against the evil forces, can give a soothing touch
to the struggle-torn earth with the balm of peace. Peace is the
result of fight. Peace-lovers of the universe must not keep
themselves away from fight. As for those who have been dreaming of
keeping humanity imprisoned by dogmas, their days are numbered; their
blissful dreams are being shattered to pieces.
And
all of a sudden there are galloping jumps – epoch-making
eras. Before and after a jump, there is biological change, historical
change, agricultural change and human psychic change – change in
seasonal order, in the psychic arena, in the
socio-economico-political and cultural spheres and in biological
structure of nerve cells.
Staticism,
superstition and narrowness stand for cimmerian darkness. The
creatures of darkness never want the expansive exaltation of human
society. Even then, human beings shall march ahead. No one can arrest
the speed of their progress.
Remember
that light, not darkness is veritably the truth of life. The
light of new ideas shall certainly illuminate every nook and corner
of human habitation, in spite of the inroads of countless forces of
denunciation, denigration and contempt.
The
struggle between the good and the evil forces terminates in
the latter’s rout – this you have seen, are seeing and will see
in future. Only remain vigilant that the evil forces under no
circumstances receive any indulgence from your side.
The
flame of a lamp lights up countless lamps. The touch of a great
personality wakes up innumerable sleeping hearts. In the same way,
the eternal glow of the boundless élan vital of Cosmic Consciousness
has been illuminating the life-lamp of universal humanism since time
immemorial, is illuminating it, and in future will do so even more
intensely.
In
order to turn personified love into universal love one must
colour the molecules and atoms of this dusty earth with one's love. A
person who has developed universal love will be able to do very great
work. The universal love which has remained suppressed in the human
mind is bound to express itself one day. That day is not very far
away. When love awakens those sleeping souls, then true human beings
will emerge.
Encourage everyone to build their career in a nice way. Let none get the opportunity to think that their life has become useless. Whenever considering doing good works, do not hesitate – do them immediately. Whenever contemplating doing bad works, linger and delay, so that the thought of performing them will wither away from the mind.

should know that great, or good people are few in number, they
are not many. And these few, they are the torch bearers of human
society, they are the pioneers, they are the vanguards of human

majority of people are in darkness. That is why you will have to
carry the collectivity with you, because the collectivity is
yours. The collectivity is not outside you – your future is
inseparably connected with the collective fortune.
Unity is the natural course, and division is unnatural. The Cosmic Energy will not long tolerate what is unnatural. So it is natural for human beings to live together and to make a Great Universe. The world is moving rapidly from physicality to intellectuality. A day is sure to come when this intellectuality will be transformed into spirituality.
Spirituality
is not a utopian ideal but a practical philosophy which can be
practiced and realized in everyday life. Spirituality stands for
evolution and elevation, not for superstitions or pessimism. All
divisive tendencies and group and clan philosophies which create
shackles of narrow-mindedness are not connected with spirituality and
should be discouraged. Only that which leads to broadness of vision
should be accepted. Spirituality stands for universality.
With
the help of spiritual practices, the human beings of the
future will increase the functional jurisdiction of their brains with
accelerating speed. The human beings of the future age will be very
sensitive. Today human beings seldom have subtle experiences, but in
the future they will occur naturally and spontaneously.
Be
the [vanguard of] a bright future; the crimson light of that
future breaks on the eastern horizon. We should welcome it – we
must welcome it. There is no alternative but to welcome it. A bright
future awaits you – your future is glorious, your future is
luminous, your future is effulgent.
