Your purpose here, is to find your own Truth. Sometimes, others can help you by offering guidance, but for their Truth to become your Truth, it must pass through the test of your discernment. And while 'working on yourself', just keep noticing your negative thought patterns and simply select a response that is more Positive.

Meditate how? Beginners, whose mind can be even very crude, is better to concentrate on subtle idea,

rather than crude objects; such as any physical thing, or message seeking or so on. This subtle idea could be universal (divine, cosmic) love. It is the expression and inner spirit of consciousness and creation. This love is a pleasant idea to concentrate on. It creates devotion, which is helpful in keeping one in the spiritual path. It also makes one more loving in daily life. We are not only physical and mental (and economic) beings but also spiritual, so we should spend a bit time with spiritual practices also. Without any expectations the cosmic consciousness surely provides inspiration, guidance and even answers through meditation. The ideal motivation for ones meditation is to listen the all embracing consciousness and to serve the universe. DA.

And about tandava; You must not develop the psychology of fear or defeatism. Wherever there is want of fight, whenever one surrenders before evil force, one is sentimentally dead. Tandava represents vitality and eternal fight, the fight for survival, the fight to maintain existence, the fight to establish oneself as a man in this world. The practice of táńd́ava is conducive for physical and spiritual progress. There are so many forces that are inimical to you by nature. Say a snake – a snake is a born enemy. There are many such born enemies. Those who are a bit old should practise it twice a day at the time of their spiritual practices. As far as young people are concerned, they may practise it as much as they can.

Táńd́ava is a very vigorous all-body exercise, by which even the brain and its nerve cells become strengthened. The Sanskrit word tańd́u means “upward jump”. Lord Sadáshiva invented táńd́ava. In the entire sphere of human expression fight between the good and the evil force – merits and demerits – death and life – is going on and will be going on forever.

The practice of táńd́ava is not suitable for women because of certain physiological constraints. But they need something too. When in Patna, I invented a new type of dance-exercise for women, which I have called kaośikii nrtya. As for the benefits, kaośikii is as important as táńd́ava. Kaośikii is beneficial for both men and women. Competition in táńd́ava and kaośikii is very good and encouraging.
